Last week, GE Transportation participated the 2011 Railways and Harbours Exhibition in Johannesburg, South Africa. Railways and Harbours is a biennial event that last took place in 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The event ran from April 6-8, featured 79 exhibitors, and came on the heels of February's unveiling of the first 2 (of 100) AC diesel-electric locomotives GE provided for South Africa's Transnet Limited. At Railways and Harbours 2011, GE Transportation showcased the new C30ACi locomotive that it is providing for Transnet, in addition to other signaling and communications equipment.
The C30ACi locomotives GE is providing for Transnet will help upgrade its 33-year old fleet.
